Ulalek, Fused Atrocity costs {C/W}{C/U}{C/B}{C/R}{C/G}, so each part can be paid with its colour or with colourless mana. Whenever you cast an Eldrazi spell, you may pay {C}{C}; if you do, you copy all spells you control, then copy all other activated and triggered abilities you control. One big Eldrazi becomes two.
The precon already has the big Eldrazi and the colourless payoffs, including Glaring Fleshraker, Forsaken Monument and Ugin, the Ineffable. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Ulalek decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Ulalek decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back
Not enough colourless engines
Echoes of Eternity, It That Heralds the End, Herald of Kozilek and Thran Dynamo all reward or cheapen colourless spells. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.
Cards that do little for the plan
Suffer the Past, Ugin's Insight, Idol of Oblivion and Mutated Cultist are each played in about one Ulalek deck in four or fewer, and Suffer the Past in far fewer.
Too many two-colour and top-heavy cards
Ulamog's Nullifier and Angelic Aberration need specific colours, and Elder Deep-Fiend costs eight. Twenty-two nonland cards have a mana value of six or more.
The 13 swaps
Each pair shows the numbers for the card coming out and the card going in. Click a card image to zoom.

Suffer the Past is an X graveyard-exile spell that drains one life per card. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in sixteen.
Echoes of Eternity costs {3}{C}{C}{C}. Whenever you cast a colorless spell you copy it, and triggered abilities of your colorless spells and permanents trigger an additional time. Add Ulalek's copies and every colourless spell you cast can come out several times over. It is the highest-scoring card the precon leaves out.

Ugin's Insight costs five: it scries by the greatest mana value among your permanents and draws three. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in seven.
It That Heralds the End is a 2/2 for {1}{C}. Colorless spells you cast with mana value 7 or greater cost {1} less, and your other colorless creatures get +1/+1. A two-drop that discounts the big Eldrazi and grows the team.

Ulamog's Nullifier is a 2/3 flash flier for {2}{U}{B} whose counter needs two cards from exile. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in six.
Ugin's Binding costs {2}{U} at instant speed and returns a nonland permanent you do not control to its owner's hand. Whenever you cast a colorless spell with mana value 7 or greater, you may exile it from your graveyard to bounce every nonland permanent you do not control.

Vile Redeemer is a 3/3 flash creature for {2}{G} that makes Scions for creatures that died this turn if you pay {C}. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in five.
Herald of Kozilek is a 2/4 for {1}{U}{R} and colorless spells you cast cost {1} less. Every Eldrazi and colourless artifact is cheaper, so Ulalek's {C}{C} copy is easier to pay for.

Mutated Cultist is a 1/3 deathtouch for {2}{B} that removes counters when you cast it. Counters are not a theme of this deck, and it is played in about one Ulalek deck in four.
Sowing Mycospawn is a 3/3 for {3}{G}. When you cast it you search for a land and put it onto the battlefield, and if it was kicked for {1}{C} you also exile a land. Ramp that fetches a Wastes or a utility land and is a spell for Ulalek to copy.

Idol of Oblivion draws a card only if you created a token this turn, and its 10/10 costs {8} plus a sacrifice. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in five.
Thran Dynamo costs {4} and taps for {C}{C}{C}. Colourless mana pays for the big Eldrazi and for Ulalek's {C}{C}, and it is a colourless spell for Echoes of Eternity.

Angelic Aberration is a 4/4 flying vigilance creature for {5}{W} that only turns small creatures into 4/4s. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in five.
Kozilek's Unsealing costs {2}{U}. Whenever you cast a creature spell with mana value 4, 5 or 6 you create two Eldrazi Spawn, and with mana value 7 or greater you draw three cards. Most of your creatures are those, and Ulalek's copy triggers it twice.

Elder Deep-Fiend is an 8-mana 5/6 flash creature that taps up to four permanents when you cast it. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in five.
Nulldrifter is a 4/4 flying creature for {7} that draws two cards when you cast it, with annihilator 1 and evoke {2}{U}. A colourless spell with mana value 7, so Ulalek copies the draw.

Sifter of Skulls is a 4/3 for {3}{B} that makes a Scion when another nontoken creature of yours dies. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in five.
Path of Annihilation costs {3}{G}. It makes two Eldrazi Spawn, your Eldrazi tap for mana of any colour, and you gain 4 life whenever you cast a creature spell with mana value 7 or greater. It fixes the colours for the whole deck.

Inversion Behemoth is a 2/9 for {2}{C}{C} that switches power and toughness at the beginning of combat. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in five.
Eldrazi Linebreaker is a 3/3 trampler for {1}{C}{R}. At the beginning of combat on your turn, a creature you control gains haste and +X/+0, where X is the number of Eldrazi you control. A three-drop that makes any big Eldrazi hit hard the turn it lands.

Imprisoned in the Moon is a three-mana Aura that turns a creature, land or planeswalker into a colourless land. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in four.
Conduit of Ruin is a 5/5 for {6}. When you cast it you may search your library for a colorless creature with mana value 7 or greater and put it on top, and your first creature spell each turn costs {2} less. A colourless spell that finds the next Eldrazi for Ulalek to copy.

Skittering Invasion is a seven-mana sorcery that makes five Eldrazi Spawn. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in four.
Kozilek, the Great Distortion is a 12/12 with menace for {8}{C}{C}. When you cast it, you draw cards if you have fewer than seven in hand, and by discarding a card of the same mana value you can counter a spell. Ulalek copies it, so you draw twice.

Crib Swap is a three-mana instant that exiles a creature. It is played in about one Ulalek deck in three.
Ulamog, the Defiler is a 7/7 for {10}. When you cast it, a target opponent exiles the top half of their library, it has ward-sacrifice two permanents, and it enters with counters equal to the greatest mana value in exile and annihilator equal to its counters. A colourless finisher, and the most expensive swap in this guide.

What to keep
These cards are doing the deck's heavy lifting. Do not cut them.
- Glaring Fleshraker$1.16
Played in 90% of Ulalek decks. Makes an Eldrazi Spawn whenever you cast a colorless spell and pings opponents when another colorless creature enters. - Forsaken Monument$3.12
Colorless creatures get +2/+2, you add an extra {C} whenever you tap a permanent for {C}, and you gain 2 life for each colorless spell. - All Is Dust$2.14
Each player sacrifices every coloured permanent. Your colourless board survives it. - Eldritch Immunity$9.54
A one-mana trick that gives protection from each color, and overloads to protect your whole team. - Ugin, the Ineffable$1.87
Makes your colourless spells cost {2} less, makes a 2/2 Spirit each turn and destroys a coloured permanent.
If you want to spend more
These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.
- Emrakul, the World Anew$6.88
A twelve-mana finisher that steals every creature of a target player when cast.
Eldrazi Incursion already has the big Eldrazi and the colourless payoffs. The upgrade is cheap colourless engines that copy, discount and ramp, in place of coloured cards the deck struggles to cast and a few that almost nobody plays. These thirteen swaps cost about $40 in total.

How the numbers work
Inclusion is the share of Ulalek, Fused Atrocity decks (28,035 of them when this was written, 2026-10-27) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.
Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Ulalek decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is very high for many colourless cards because they are rarely played outside Eldrazi decks, so use lift to compare cards, not to judge one in isolation. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
