Henzie "Toolbox" Torre costs {B}{R}{G} and is a Legendary Creature. Each creature spell you cast with mana value 4 or greater has blitz, and the blitz cost is equal to its mana cost. A blitzed creature gains haste and "When this creature dies, draw a card," and you sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step. Blitz costs you pay cost {1} less for each time you have cast your commander from the command zone this game. Every big creature you cast can attack right away, draw a card and go to the graveyard for the reanimation spells.

The precon already has the big creatures and the recursion, including Solemn Simulacrum, Etali, Victimize, Industrial Advancement and Noxious Gearhulk. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Henzie decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Henzie decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back

Creatures that do nothing when they die

Bellowing Mauler, First Responder, Grime Gorger and Mezzio Mugger are not cards Henzie decks usually play. Junji, Seedguide Ash, Rampant Rejuvenator and Chupacabra all do something useful the turn they arrive or the turn they die.

Reanimation and sacrifice payoffs

Riveteers Ascendancy, Greater Good, Chainer and Ziatora reward you for sacrificing creatures and replaying them. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.

Slow or situational cards

Aether Snap, Turf War, Rain of Riches and Dodgy Jalopy are not cards Henzie, and the deck has 13 nonland cards at mana value six or more decks usually play.

What to keep

These cards are doing the deck's heavy lifting. Do not cut them.

If you want to spend more

These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.

The verdict

Riveteers Rampage already has the big creatures, the blitz plan and the recursion. The upgrade is cheap creatures that pay off when they die and sacrifice payoffs, in place of cards that Henzie decks leave out. These twelve swaps cost about $7 in total.

How the numbers work

Inclusion is the share of Henzie "Toolbox" Torre decks (18,920 of them when this was written, 2026-10-28) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.

Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Henzie "Toolbox" Torre decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is high for many sacrifice cards because few decks play them outside a sacrifice deck, so use lift to compare cards, not to judge one in isolation. A card the commander's decks do not usually play counts as 0 in the average score. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
