Overview
Draconic Dissent is a goad deck that wants opponents attacking one another. Firkraag, Cunning Instigator is a Dragon with flying and haste. Whenever one or more Dragons you control attack an opponent, goad target creature that player controls, and whenever a creature deals combat damage to one of your opponents, if that creature had to attack this combat, you put a +1/+1 counter on Firkraag and draw a card.
The 99 cards are 28 creatures, 2 planeswalkers, 11 artifacts, 10 enchantments, 3 instants, 7 sorceries and 38 lands. 12 of the creatures are Dragons, including Chaos Dragon, Territorial Hellkite, Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, and many other cards goad or force combat, such as Vengeful Ancestor, Bothersome Quasit, Agitator Ant, Disrupt Decorum and Warmonger Hellkite. Cards like Propaganda and Dissipation Field keep you safe while the others fight.
Key Cards
Playing the Deck
The early game is about mana and cheap goaders. Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Izzet Signet, Talisman of Creativity, Mind Stone, Fellwar Stone and Wayfarer's Bauble provide mana, Agitator Ant, Bothersome Quasit and Sprite Dragon come down early, and Psychic Impetus and Shiny Impetus goad a creature with an Aura. Propaganda and Curse of Verbosity keep opponents from attacking you.
The middle of the game is about forced combat and card advantage. Rowan Kenrith makes each creature a player controls attack, Will Kenrith shrinks two creatures to 0/3 and draws cards, and Loot Dispute takes the initiative and makes Treasures. Goblin Spymaster gives each opponent a token that makes their creatures attack, and Death Kiss doubles the power of creatures attacking your opponents. Territorial Hellkite and Chaos Dragon are fast flyers that must attack.
The late game is about huge Dragons and a one-sided finish. Drakuseth, Maw of Flames and Niv-Mizzet, Parun deal a lot of damage, Thunder Dragon and Ryusei, the Falling Star hit creatures without flying, and Avatar of Slaughter gives all creatures double strike and makes them attack. Aether Gale, Blasphemous Act and Chain Reaction reset the board.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck does most of its damage with its opponents' creatures, which makes it hard to attack in multiplayer, and its Dragons are strong flyers. It also has several protective effects, such as Propaganda, Dissipation Field and Angler Turtle, and plenty of answers, including Chaos Warp, Curse of the Swine, Domineering Will and Reins of Power.
Weaknesses: Goad only works if opponents have creatures that can attack, so the deck struggles against decks without creatures or with lots of removal. Many of its best cards are expensive, and its plan depends on the table, so it is less effective in a two-player game, where there is no one else for the other player to attack.
