Overview
Embalm and eternalize are two of Amonkhet's most distinctive mechanics. Both let creatures return from the graveyard as token copies, and Eternal Might is built to exploit this recursion. Temmet, Naktamun's Will leads the embalmed warriors of Amonkhet into the race circuit of Aetherdrift: he has vigilance and menace, loots a card whenever you attack, and gives all your Zombies +1/+1 until end of turn every time you draw a card. Since every embalmed or eternalized token is a Zombie, his own attack trigger and any other card draw in the deck constantly pumps the entire token army, and his eternal forms are persistent and difficult to permanently remove.
The strategy has natural resilience: once a creature has been embalmed or eternalized, the token stays on the battlefield even though the card has been exiled from your graveyard. God-Pharaoh's Gift and The Scarab God both turn creature cards in graveyards into 4/4 Zombie tokens, so removal on a single threat just feeds the next one.
Key Cards
These four cards represent the strategic core of the deck and are the most important pieces to protect and set up.
Playing the Deck
The early game is about establishing mana and filling the graveyard with embalm and eternalize targets. Champion of Wits is the ideal early play, drawing cards and discarding embalm creatures to set up future activations. Embalm and eternalize are activated abilities, not cast spells, so they bypass traditional counterspells.
The mid game focuses on activating embalm and eternalize at key moments. White removal and blue countermagic protect the pieces while the graveyard builds. Gate to the Afterlife can fetch God-Pharaoh's Gift once six or more creature cards are in your graveyard, and Angel of Sanctions, Vizier of Many Faces and other embalm creatures keep returning as tokens.
The late game is about flooding the board with Zombie tokens faster than opponents can answer them. God-Pharaoh's Gift makes a 4/4 haste Zombie copy of a creature card from your graveyard each combat, The Scarab God drains the table at your upkeep based on the number of Zombies you control, and Temmet pumps your Zombies whenever you draw a card, so even a modest token army can close games quickly when given a clear path.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths: Recursive threats that return from the graveyard as tokens, bypassing spot removal repeatedly. God-Pharaoh's Gift and The Scarab God both turn creature cards in graveyards into 4/4 Zombies, creating overwhelming threats from a single card. The deck also has Temmet at the helm, who draws and discards whenever you attack and pumps your Zombies when you draw.
Weaknesses: Token strategies lose hard to sweepers and effects that shrink the whole army at once. The embalm and eternalize package requires specific creatures to be in the graveyard, making the deck slow to assemble. Esper can be inconsistent on a precon budget when trying to hit all three colours reliably in the early turns.
