Overview
Lorehold Legacies is an artifact deck that rebuilds itself. Osgir, the Reconstructor has vigilance, and for {1} and a sacrificed artifact, target creature you control gets +2/+0 until end of turn. For {X}, a tap, and an artifact card with mana value X exiled from your graveyard, he creates two token copies of the exiled card, but only as a sorcery. A graveyard full of artifacts becomes a source of extra bodies.
The 99 cards are 30 creatures, 1 planeswalker, 16 artifacts, 2 enchantments, 3 instants, 9 sorceries and 38 lands. Most of the creatures are artifact creatures, including six Golems, such as Bosh, Iron Golem, Bronze Guardian, Alibou, Ancient Witness and Solemn Simulacrum, and the artifacts include many with enter or leave effects, such as Ichor Wellspring, Mycosynth Wellspring and Archaeomancer's Map. The deck returns artifacts with Sanctum Gargoyle, Daretti, Scrap Savant, Wake the Past and Reconstruct History.
Key Cards
Playing the Deck
The early game is about mana and cheap artifacts. Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Mind Stone, Boros Locket, Hedron Archive and Commander's Sphere ramp you, Steel Overseer, Pilgrim's Eye and Burnished Hart come down cheaply, and Pia Nalaar and Thopter Engineer make Thopters. Quicksmith Genius loots whenever an artifact enters.
The middle of the game is about getting value from artifacts. Digsite Engineer makes a Construct for each artifact spell, Audacious Reshapers sacrifices an artifact to find a bigger one, Losheel, Clockwork Scholar draws cards when artifact creatures enter, and Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer gives creatures +3/+0 with three or more artifacts. Scrap Trawler returns artifacts when it or another artifact is put into your graveyard.
The late game is about huge artifact threats. Steel Hellkite, Hellkite Igniter and Triplicate Titan are large flyers, Myr Battlesphere makes four Myr, Hellkite Tyrant steals artifacts and wins if you control twenty, and Meteor Golem and Duplicant remove threats. Cleansing Nova, Rout and Chain Reaction reset the board when you need to.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck has a lot of artifacts that replace themselves, a good mana base and many ways to bring artifacts back from the graveyard, so it recovers well from sweepers and removal. It also has useful interaction, including Rip Apart, Dispatch, Excavation Technique, Return to Dust and Dispeller's Capsule.
Weaknesses: Artifact removal and graveyard exile hurt a deck with this many artifacts, and several of its best cards, such as Bosh, Triplicate Titan and Wake the Past, cost seven or more mana. It has only a few ways to protect its creatures and relies on its sweepers and recursion to recover.
