Overview
Temur Roar channels the Temur clan's love of raw power into a Commander deck full of Dragons and enormous creatures, built around Eshki, Temur's Roar. Whenever you cast a creature spell, Eshki gets a +1/+1 counter; if that spell's power is 4 or greater you draw a card, and if its power is 6 or greater Eshki deals damage equal to his power to each opponent. The deck uses green's ramp package to deploy big threats several turns early and the blue and red cards to protect them and finish games.
The strategy is reinforced by a deep suite of Dragons: Glorybringer removes blockers, Dragonlord Atarka clears the opponents' board, and Scourge of the Throne gives you a second combat. Thundermane Dragon lets you cast creature spells with power 4 or greater from the top of your library, so a deck that already casts big creatures draws extra cards from the same triggers. Hellkite Courser can even drop Eshki onto the battlefield with haste.
Key Cards
Playing the Deck
The early game is almost entirely about mana development. Every land and ramp spell counts toward landing a large creature by turn four or five. Green's suite of Farseek, Kodama's Reach and Migration Path accelerates reliably into the five-to-eight mana creatures the deck wants to cast, and getting Eshki onto the battlefield early means every big creature you cast afterwards grows him.
The mid game clicks into gear the moment you start casting power-4 creatures with Eshki on the battlefield. Each one draws a card and gives him a +1/+1 counter, and every power-6 creature deals damage equal to his power to each opponent. Dragons like Stormbreath Dragon and Glorybringer attack with haste, so the board starts pressuring opponents the turn they arrive.
In the late game, the deck wins with a pile of enormous flying threats. Dragonlord Atarka deals 5 damage divided among your opponents' creatures and planeswalkers while presenting an 8/8 flying trampler, and Atarka, World Render gives every Dragon double strike when it attacks. Protect your key creatures with blue's counterspells and the game closes naturally.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck generates enormous amounts of mana relative to opponents and can deploy threats that far outsize anything else on the board. Eshki provides card advantage and damage passively as you cast big creatures, so the deck refuels faster than most ramp strategies, and the Dragons carry their own evasion.
Weaknesses: The deck is highly vulnerable to counterspells and removal on key payoffs, and Eshki is only a 2/2 when he enters, so he dies easily before he has grown. A top end this heavy also leaves the deck exposed to opponents who punish a slow start.
