Overview

Veloci-Ramp-Tor is a Dinosaur tribal deck that rewards you for playing big creatures. Pantlaza, Sun-Favored is a Dinosaur himself, and whenever he or another Dinosaur you control enters, you may discover X, where X is that creature's toughness. You do this only once each turn, and discover means you exile cards from the top of your library until you reach a nonland card with that mana value or less, then cast it for free or put it into your hand.

The 99 cards are 40 creatures, 4 artifacts, 3 enchantments, 4 instants, 9 sorceries and 39 lands. 34 of the creatures are Dinosaurs, and the rest are mana creatures and support pieces that help you cast them. Because discover depends on toughness, the high-toughness Dinosaurs, such as Zetalpa, Primal Dawn and Curious Altisaur, are worth more than their size suggests.

Key Cards

◈
Regisaur Alpha
Haste · Token Maker
A 4/4 for {3}{R}{G}. Other Dinosaurs you control have haste, and when it enters you create a 3/3 green Dinosaur creature token with trample. That is two Dinosaurs entering at once, and the haste makes each of them an immediate threat.
◈
Thundering Spineback
Anthem · Token Engine
A 5/5 for {5}{G}{G}. Other Dinosaurs you control get +1/+1, and for {5}{G} you create a 3/3 green Dinosaur creature token with trample. It is a mana sink for the late game that keeps Pantlaza's discover trigger live.
◈
Zetalpa, Primal Dawn
Finisher · Discover 8
A 4/8 for {6}{W}{W}. It has flying, double strike, vigilance, trample and indestructible. It is a Dinosaur with toughness 8, so when it enters, Pantlaza lets you discover 8 for a free spell.
◈
Wakening Sun's Avatar
One-Sided Sweeper
A 7/7 for {5}{W}{W}{W}. When it enters, if you cast it from your hand, destroy all non-Dinosaur creatures. In a deck with this many Dinosaurs it clears the opponents' boards, though it also destroys your own non-Dinosaur creatures such as the mana creatures.

Playing the Deck

The early game is about mana. Drover of the Mighty and Atzocan Seer tap for mana of any colour, Ixalli's Lorekeeper does the same for Dinosaur spells and Dinosaur abilities, Rampant Growth, Farseek, Cultivate, Migration Path and Thunderherd Migration fetch lands, and Sol Ring, Arcane Signet and Progenitor's Icon add more. Otepec Huntmaster makes Dinosaur spells cost {1} less, and Marauding Raptor makes creature spells cost {1} less.

The middle of the game is about getting free value from every Dinosaur. Pantlaza discovers once each turn, Dinosaur Egg discovers when it dies, and Descendants' Path casts the top card of your library for free at upkeep if it shares a creature type with a creature you control. The enrage Dinosaurs, Ripjaw Raptor, Ranging Raptors and Bellowing Aegisaur, get better whenever they are dealt damage, and Savage Stomp and Wayta, Trainer Prodigy make creatures fight while Itzquinth, Firstborn of Gishath has a Dinosaur deal damage equal to its power.

The late game is about huge creatures and finishing blows. Zacama, Primal Calamity untaps your lands when you cast it and can deal 3 damage to a creature, Etali, Primal Storm casts free spells whenever it attacks, and Quartzwood Crasher makes an X/X Dinosaur Beast whenever creatures with trample connect. Rishkar's Expertise draws cards equal to the greatest power among your creatures, and Chandra's Ignition and Fiery Confluence can turn the game with burn.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths: The deck has lots of ramp, mana creatures and lands, so it can deploy huge Dinosaurs quickly. It also has real power in its top end and plenty of ways to get free value from it, and its three colours give it answers such as Path to Exile, Generous Gift, Akroma's Will and the fight spells.

Weaknesses: Several Dinosaurs are very expensive, such as Zacama and Apex Altisaur, so a slow draw can leave you stuck. A few Dinosaurs have drawbacks: Topiary Stomper cannot attack or block unless you control seven or more lands, and Wayward Swordtooth cannot attack or block unless you have the city's blessing. A board wipe also hurts a deck that invests so much mana in its creatures.

Verdict
Veloci-Ramp-Tor is a big, simple and satisfying deck: ramp into huge Dinosaurs, discover into free spells and beat down. It is a good fit for players who enjoy playing large creatures, and it has room to improve with better ramp and removal.
