Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald costs {1}{R}{G} and is a 3/3. Whenever you cast a spell from exile or a land you control enters from exile, you create a 2/2 green Wolf. For {1}, a tap and a discard, you exile the top card of your library and may play it this turn. Every impulse draw makes a Wolf.
The precon already has the impulse draw and the payoffs, including Laelia, the Blade Reforged, Escape to the Wilds, Delayed Blast Fireball, Wild-Magic Sorcerer and Light Up the Stage. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Faldorn decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Faldorn decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back
Not enough cheap impulse draw
Party Thrasher, Containment Construct, Wrenn's Resolve, Urabrask, Heretic Praetor and Valakut Exploration all exile cards from your library or graveyard for you to play. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.
Discard and cost reduction
Conspiracy Theorist and Inti, Seneschal of the Sun reward discarding, which Faldorn's own ability needs, and Goblin Anarchomancer makes every red and green spell cheaper.
Expensive cards that do not exile
Greater Gargadon, Hornet Queen, Sandwurm Convergence and Primeval Bounty cost six or more and do not cast from exile, and Arasta of the Endless Web, Dream Pillager and Lovestruck Beast are not played in the commander's decks.

If you want to spend more
These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.
- Nalfeshnee$8.55
Copies every spell you cast from exile.
Exit from Exile already has the impulse draw and the payoffs. The upgrade is cheap cards that exile from the top of your library every turn and discard outlets that Faldorn uses, in place of seven- and eight-drops that do nothing with exile. These twelve swaps cost about $25 in total.

How the numbers work
Inclusion is the share of Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald decks (5,475 of them when this was written, 2026-10-27) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.
Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Faldorn decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is high for many of these cards because few decks play them outside an impulse draw deck, so use lift to compare cards, not to judge one in isolation. A card the commander's decks do not usually play counts as 0 in the average score. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
