Riku of Two Reflections costs {2}{G}{U}{R} and is a 2/2 Legendary Human Wizard. Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell you may pay {U}{R} to copy that spell and choose new targets for the copy, and whenever another nontoken creature you control enters you may pay {G}{U} to create a token copy of that creature. Every spell and every enter-the-battlefield creature is worth two.
The precon already has the ramp and the signets, including Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Sol Ring, Brainstorm, Izzet Signet and Simic Signet. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Riku decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Riku decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back
Not enough copy effects and enter-the-battlefield creatures
Rite of Replication, Progenitor Mimic, Double Major, Archmage Emeritus, Mythos of Illuna and Coiling Oracle copy things or do something when they enter. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.
Sweepers, land-hate and filler outside the lists
Chain Reaction, Death by Dragons, Disaster Radius, Firespout, Ruination, Savage Twister, Vengeful Rebirth, Collective Voyage, Call the Skybreaker, Armillary Sphere, Prophetic Prism and Aethersnipe are not cards Riku decks usually play.
Almost no cheap blue-green card draw
Growth Spiral and Coiling Oracle draw a card and ramp for two mana in exactly Riku's blue and green.

Coiling Oracle is a 1/1 Snake Elf Druid for {G}{U}. When it enters, you reveal the top card of your library, and if it's a land you put it onto the battlefield, otherwise you put it into your hand. A two-drop that ramps or draws, and Riku can copy it for {G}{U}.

Prophetic Prism is a two-mana artifact that draws a card and fixes. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.
Growth Spiral costs {G}{U}. You draw a card, and you may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield. A two-mana instant that draws and ramps, and Riku can copy it for {U}{R}.

Call the Skybreaker is a seven-mana sorcery with retrace that makes a 5/5 flying Elemental. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.

Progenitor Mimic is a Shapeshifter for {4}{G}{U}. You may have it enter as a copy of any creature on the battlefield, except it has "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature isn't a token, create a token that's a copy of this creature." A six-mana clone that keeps copying itself.

Collective Voyage is a one-mana sorcery with join forces that fetches basic lands. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.
Farseek costs {1}{G}. It searches your library for a Plains, Island, Swamp or Mountain card and puts it onto the battlefield tapped. A two-mana ramp spell that fetches two of Riku's colours.

Death by Dragons is a six-mana sorcery that gives each player but one a 5/5 Dragon. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.

Disaster Radius is a seven-mana sorcery that damages opposing creatures based on a revealed creature. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.
Mythos of Illuna costs {2}{U}{U}. You create a token that's a copy of target permanent, and if {R}{G} was spent to cast it the token fights up to one target creature you don't control when it enters. A four-mana sorcery that copies any permanent.

Firespout is a three-mana sorcery that damages creatures with or without flying. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.
Archmage Emeritus is a 2/2 Human Wizard for {2}{U}{U}. Magecraft: whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, you draw a card. A four-drop that draws twice for every spell Riku copies.

Savage Twister is a sorcery that deals X damage to each creature. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.
Double Major costs {G}{U}. It copies target creature spell you control, except it isn't legendary if the spell is legendary. A two-mana instant that doubles a creature spell, even a legendary one.

Vengeful Rebirth is a six-mana sorcery that returns a card and deals damage. It is not a card Riku decks usually play.
Eternal Witness is a 2/1 Human Shaman for {1}{G}{G}. When it enters, you may return target card from your graveyard to your hand. A three-drop that gets back a spell, and Riku can copy it for {G}{U}.

Doppelgang costs {X}{X}{X}{G}{U}. For each of X target permanents, you create X tokens that are copies of that permanent. A flexible sorcery that makes a pile of copies.

What to keep
These cards are doing the deck's heavy lifting. Do not cut them.
- Cultivate$0.39
Played in 60% of Riku decks. Puts a basic land onto the battlefield and one into your hand. - Kodama's Reach$1.55
Played in 49% of Riku decks. The same ramp as Cultivate, and it copies well. - Sol Ring$1.25
Played in 79% of Riku decks. Two mana for one. - Brainstorm$0.55
Played in 24% of Riku decks. Draws three cards and puts two back, and copying it doubles the digging. - Izzet Signet$0.34
Played in 20% of Riku decks. Makes {U}{R} to pay for Riku's spell copying.
If you want to spend more
These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.
- Clever Impersonator$2.69
A four-mana clone that enters as a copy of any nonland permanent. It costs more than a budget upgrade should. - Phyrexian Metamorph$2.20
A four-mana clone that copies an artifact or creature. It costs more than a budget upgrade should.
Mirror Mastery already has the ramp, the signets and Riku's copy triggers. The upgrade is cheap copy effects and enter-the-battlefield creatures, in place of sweepers, land-hate and filler that Riku decks leave out. These twelve swaps cost about $10 in total.

How the numbers work
Inclusion is the share of Riku of Two Reflections decks (5,400 of them when this was written, 2026-10-28) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.
Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Riku of Two Reflections decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is high for many copy cards because few decks play them outside a clones deck, so use lift to compare cards, not to judge one in isolation. A card the commander's decks do not usually play counts as 0 in the average score. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
