Adrix and Nev, Twincasters costs {2}{G}{U} and is a Legendary Merfolk Wizard with ward {2}. If one or more tokens would be created under your control, twice that many of those tokens are created instead. Every Treasure, Saproling and copy token is doubled, so token makers become twice as good as they read.
The precon already has the copy spells and the token creatures, including Rite of Replication, Esix, Curiosity Crafter, Idol of Oblivion and Hornet Queen. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Adrix and Nev decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Adrix and Nev decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back
Not enough cheap token makers and copy effects
Tendershoot Dryad, Awakening Zone, Quasiduplicate, Double Major, Cackling Counterpart and Gruff Triplets all make tokens, each of which Adrix and Nev doubles. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.
Cards outside the lists
Arashi, Biomathematician, Desolation Twin, Kaseto, Plaxcaster Frogling, Ruxa and Commander's Insight are not cards Adrix and Nev decks usually play.
A land-heavy deck with slow cards
The deck has 40 lands, and Terastodon, Fractal Harness and Geometric Nexus are each played in about one Adrix and Nev deck in nine to seventeen.

With Adrix and Nev, one spell is five Triplets.

Fractal Harness is a three-mana Equipment that makes a Fractal and doubles its counters. It is played in about one Adrix and Nev deck in twelve.

If you want to spend more
These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.
- Second Harvest$3.72
An instant that makes a copy of each token you control. It costs more than a budget upgrade should. - Koma, Cosmos Serpent$4.41
A seven-mana Serpent that makes a 3/3 Serpent token at every upkeep, which Adrix and Nev doubles. It costs more than a budget upgrade should.
Quantum Quandrix already has the copy spells, the token makers and Adrix and Nev's doubling. The upgrade is cheap token makers and copy effects, in place of clunky creatures and cards that Adrix and Nev decks leave out. These twelve swaps cost about $7 in total.

How the numbers work
Inclusion is the share of Adrix and Nev, Twincasters decks (8,837 of them when this was written, 2026-10-28) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.
Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Adrix and Nev decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is high for many token cards because few decks play them outside a tokens deck, so use lift to compare cards, not to judge one in isolation. A card the commander's decks do not usually play counts as 0 in the average score. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
