Overview

Riders of Rohan is built around flooding the board with Humans and letting Éowyn, Shieldmaiden turn that critical mass into free attackers. At the beginning of combat on your turn, if another Human entered the battlefield under your control that turn, Éowyn creates two 2/2 red Human Knight tokens with trample and haste, and if you control six or more Humans when that trigger resolves, she also draws you a card. The deck's plan is to deploy Humans efficiently on curve, keep a new one hitting the battlefield before combat each turn, and let Éowyn's trigger snowball the board into an overwhelming attack.

The Jeskai colour combination brings red's aggression and token generation, white's Human tribal payoffs and go-wide support, and blue's tempo and card selection. This is a low-curve attacking deck at heart, built around casting a new Human every turn rather than any single combat trick. Aragorn, King of Gondor makes you the monarch when he enters, which draws an extra card each end step, and Crown of Gondor and Archivist of Gondor help you keep the crown.

Key Cards

◈
Aragorn, King of Gondor
Monarch · Evasion
A four-mana 4/4 with vigilance and lifelink. When it enters you become the monarch, and whenever it attacks, up to one target creature can't block this turn; if you're the monarch, creatures can't block at all this turn. A huge alpha strike enabler for a go-wide Human deck.
◈
Faramir, Steward of Gondor
Monarch · Token Maker
A three-mana 2/2. Whenever a legendary creature you control with mana value 4 or greater enters, you become the monarch, and at the beginning of your end step, if you are the monarch, create two 1/1 white Human Soldier tokens. Each Human token also helps Éowyn reach her threshold.
◈
Forth Eorlingas!
Token Maker · X Spell
Create X 2/2 red Human Knight creature tokens with trample and haste. Whenever one or more creatures you control deal combat damage to one or more players this turn, you become the monarch. It is both a surprise army and a way to steal the crown.
◈
Oath of Eorl
Token Maker · Saga
A five-mana Saga: chapter I creates two 1/1 white Human Soldier tokens, chapter II creates two 2/2 red Human Knight tokens with trample and haste, and chapter III puts an indestructible counter on up to one target Human and makes you the monarch. It is six Humans over three turns.

Playing the Deck

The early game is about curving out Humans as efficiently as possible: the deck's low average mana value means most hands can deploy a new Human almost every turn without straining the mana base. Éowyn wants a Human to enter before combat, so sequencing creature plays before attacking (rather than after) is what keeps her combat trigger live once she's in play.

The mid game is about crossing the six-Human threshold that unlocks Éowyn's card draw on top of her token trigger. Oath of Eorl and Forth Eorlingas! pad the board with Human tokens and keep the card advantage flowing, and once Éowyn is reliably making two hasty, trampling tokens and drawing a card each combat, the game tends to snowball quickly. Faramir, Steward of Gondor applies pressure from the sidelines: whenever you are the monarch he makes two Human Soldiers at your end step.

Games close through the accumulated weight of hasty, trampling tokens rather than any single combo: once Éowyn is triggering every turn, the board typically outgrows what one opponent can profitably block, and the trample on her tokens punishes chump blocking. The deck does not have a dedicated combo finish, so victory comes through sustained aggression and the card advantage that keeps refuelling it.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths: Riders of Rohan's commander rewards exactly the low-curve, go-wide game plan the rest of the deck is already built to play, so there's little tension between what Éowyn wants and what the deck naturally does. Oath of Eorl and Faramir both generate the bodies needed to keep hitting her thresholds turn after turn, and Aragorn and the monarch cards keep the card advantage flowing.

Weaknesses: The deck leans hard on curving out every turn, so a slow hand or early removal on key Humans can stall Éowyn's trigger before it starts snowballing. It's also vulnerable to board wipes beyond Boromir's single use, since losing the Human count resets the whole engine. Faramir's ability is politically read-dependent — a canny opponent can simply pick whichever outcome, card or tokens, helps you less.

Verdict
Riders of Rohan is a tightly themed Human tribal aggro precon from Tales of Middle-earth Commander, and Éowyn, Shieldmaiden gives the archetype a genuinely synergistic payoff rather than a generic anthem. Aragorn, Faramir, Oath of Eorl and Forth Eorlingas! all pull in the same direction of flooding the board and pressuring opponents into a bad choice, and the low curve makes the deck feel fast and consistent straight out of the box. It's light on interaction, but as a straightforward Human go-wide aggro deck it delivers exactly what its Rohan flavour promises.
