Anikthea, Hand of Erebos costs {2}{W}{B}{G} and is a 4/4 enchantment creature with menace. Other enchantment creatures you control have menace, and whenever Anikthea enters or attacks you exile a non-Aura enchantment card from your graveyard and create a token copy of it that is a 3/3 black Zombie creature in addition to its other types. Every enchantment that hits the graveyard comes back as a body.

The precon already has the draw engines and the enchantment creatures, including Sanctum Weaver, Eidolon of Blossoms, Sythis, Harvest's Hand and Setessan Champion. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Anikthea decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Anikthea decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back

Not enough enchantment creatures

Weaver of Harmony, Grim Guardian, Shigeki, Soaring Lightbringer and Summon: Titan are enchantment creatures that pump, drain, ramp or fly, and Anikthea gives every one menace. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.

Ways to fill the graveyard

Cemetery Tampering and Shigeki mill or return cards to fill the graveyard, which gives Anikthea enchantments to copy.

Enchantments that do nothing

Cunning Rhetoric, Dreadhorde Invasion, Love Song of Night and Day and Omen of the Sun are not cards Anikthea, and Greater Tanuki, Narci and Ghoulish Impetus are each played in about one deck in eight or fewer decks usually play.

These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.

The verdict

Enduring Enchantments already has the draw engines. The upgrade is cheap enchantment creatures that buff, drain and copy, and enchantments that fill the graveyard for Anikthea to bring back, in place of cards almost nobody plays. These fourteen swaps cost about $40 in total.

How the numbers work

Inclusion is the share of Anikthea, Hand of Erebos decks (13,361 of them when this was written, 2026-10-27) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.

Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Anikthea decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is moderate for most of these cards because they are played in many enchantment decks, so use lift to compare cards, not to judge one in isolation. A card the commander's decks do not usually play counts as 0 in the average score. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
